My family’s pork and shrimp gyoza (dumplings)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground pork

  • 1 lb shrimp (chopped finely)

  • 1 napa cabbage (chopped, salted and drained)

  • 1 bunch green onions (finely chopped)

  • 1 tbsp grated ginger

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp sake

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1-2 packages of gyoza wraps

The sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tsp white vinegar

  • 1 tsp chili oil

  • 2 tsp green onion

Step by step:

  1. First finely chop the Napa cabbage and add tsp of salt to let sit for 10 minutes

  2. While you wait chop and prepare the green onion, shrimp, and grate the ginger

  3. Next, squeeze and drain all excess water from the napa cabbage and add all ingredients into a bowl, mix

  4. Prepare a small bowl of water

  5. Take your wrappers and add about 1 tbsp of mixture in the middle, dip your finger in the water and apply around the edges

  6. Fold the wrap like a taco to seal all the edges

  7. Repeat this process until all the filling is gone

  8. In a pan add about 10 gyozas, pour in 2 tbsp of water and cover with a lid

  9. Turn heat on to medium low heat and steam for about 5-7 minutes

  10. Once water has evaporated, add in olive oil (about 1 tbsp) and fry aboutt 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, flip and repeat

  11. Pour all your sauce ingredients into a small bowl, serve your gyoza and enjoy!
