How I Reset and Get Back on Track

On my recent post on Instagram, I talked about ordering cheeseburgers, fries, Chinese food, pasta and creamy udon in the last 7 days because I had made up all the excuses in the world as to why I couldn’t go grocery shopping.

YES I know exactly what I should be eating - whole, nutrient dense foods- I even have “How to Eat Healthy 101” video on my YouTube- but I let my laziness get the best of me. It’s true what Nate said the other day, you can work out 7 days a week but if your diet goes to shit, you’ll end up back where you started.

When my eating choices are full of sodium, preservatives, oils and what have you - I get bloated AF, I crave more and more sugar, It depletes me of my energy and I crash hard. I also have a harder time falling asleep and staying asleep too because I wake up dehydrated AF in the middle of the night. My energy is overall lower throughout the day and I just feel sluggish. I can literally hear my body telling me, “hey Remi, get some real food in here PLEASE. I NEED BETTER ENERGY SOURCES”

So maybe this sounds familiar to you too and you decide, “starting tomorrow I am going to reset”.

You cut down on the excessive take out, go grocery shopping, get some healthier snack options, throw out the candy, and exercise, whatever it may be. You find yourself SUPER motivated at first and then 3 days go by or the weekend comes around and you’re back to square one again.

You’re def not alone because it happens to me too!!

Today, I want to share my top tips on resetting AKA how I get back to living a healthier lifestyle one that makes me feel my best.

THINK LONG TERM

This change isn’t a short fix. You have to think LONG TERM. What healthier choices can you make day after day, week after week, and year after year. Don’t put your energy into something that is a quick fix- even though it sounds appealing at the moment. I think juice and soup cleanses give the word “reset” a bad rep. What happens after day 7 of your cleanse? You didn’t build any sustainable habits and you’re probably going to fall back into the vicious cycle of cleansing + binging over and over. Thinking long term means, changing your mentality to “How am I going to build healthy sustainable habits that I can keep up with and enjoy?” Eating things that make you feel good from the inside out, doing workouts that make you high af and give you energy of a 12 year old. yup, that’s something you’ll be able to keep up.

DON’T RESTRICT YOURSELF

Instead think, “ What can I add more of in my life?” Keyword: ADD. Can you drink more water? Can you add a new workout routine into to your schedule? Can you add in more carbohydrates like sweet potato to curb your cravings? Instead of “I have to stop eating fries”, “I have to stop drinking wine”, “ I have to stop eating chips”. It’s a much more positive mindset to have around “resetting” and when you start to ADD more healthy habits into your life, it will have a ripple effect. Trust me! Don’t worry!

DISCIPLINE IS HALF THE BATTLE

You know exactly what you NEED to be doing to live a healthy long life. Eat balanced and nutritious meals, work out daily, stretch, drink water, get enough sleep, breathe etc. - you’ve heard it SOO much, it makes you yawn. But having the knowledge is one thing….doing it is another. It’s why some people progress like crazy doing the same workouts as you. So use this reset as an opportunity to prove to yourself how much discipline you actually DO HAVE.

BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF

Not everyone has the discipline of a super hero- aka Nate. So if you fall off track, it’s OKAY. Just use it as FUEL and motivation to move forward. OWN up to the fact that you fell back because you were lazy, not because you are a shitty person or can’t do anything right, or guilty AF. You just need to prioritize your health again. Everyone has their lazy moments so don’t be so hard on yourself.

MAKE A PLAN

Write a game plan. You can print out my Habit Tracker and schedule out your exercises and hydration goals- whatever healthy habit you want to create and GET MOTIVATED! Go grocery shopping and schedule in meal prep - listen to your favorite jams and cook! Stalk someone you are inspired by, try new recipes, new cuisines, I don’t know what gets you excited, but find it!

Alright guys, that is all for today. I’m super excited about all the Japanese food I’ll be cooking this week and the daily workouts with you guys on IG. Hope this post was helpful and you get after things that make you happy and energized.
