Did you hit a plateau?

Have you hit a plateau?

It happens to everyone in some way shape or form. You’re passed the “beginner gains” where you start something new and get an overwhelming sense of achievement as you see all your hard work come to life.

Now you’ve been training consistently but you’re starting to feel stagnant. You’re not quite losing muscle - You’re not quite gaining weight. Your performance is just good enough. You’re not progressing forward.

We all know that energy and strength comes from cleaning up your diet, getting proper sleep and exercising but we also cannot expect drastic results from doing the same things over and over again.

When I first started, I did BBG on repeat for 2.5 years. After the initial transformation it was all about maintenance and my progress flatlined. I was getting bored and complacent so I challenged myself to try more workout classes and different fitness apps.

As humans we cherry pick the things we like because we’re good at them. We avoid taking on things we suck at and choose the path of least resistance. For me it’s rowing, V ups and certain abs movements that are hard to keep my lower back pinned to the ground.

Unfortunately, progress doesn't happen from being in your comfort zone. You have to give your workout a makeover.

The possibilities are endless. You can change up the order that you complete your workout, vary the rep schemes, change the times of your sets, or efforts on cardio machines, mix up the equipment you’re using, switch from weights to body weight, try shorter & higher intensity workouts, mix in mobility, or try a new group fitness class.

When an exercise is difficult or new, our brain and muscles have to work extra hard in order to efficiently accomplish it. You can’t let your ego get in the way bc this is where change happens. After all- ya can’t forget the reason we plateaued in the first place. We outgrew our training.

If you want to try something new, check out my program HomeBodies - we take a well-rounded approach to fitness, which transfers to a better quality of life outside of the gym. The results that come out of this program are incredible, but most importantly- it’s sustainable, and fun.
