HIIT Ideas & Reebok's New Line

I'm starting the weekend with a sweaty HIIT sesh! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I <3 a good HIIT sesh (high-intensity interval training)! It’s an amazing way to sweat (A LOT!!) and there are many other reasons to love it. Here’s a lil’ breakdown:


BENEFITS
It burns fat, builds strength, increases your metabolism, and can help with endurance (plus it’s great for your heart! <3) Best part is calories are still burning POST HIIT due to the heightened metabolic activity in the body, so it’s doing you good long after you finish! It’s the most efficient and effective way to burn fat so your hard work shows quickly (helllllooo abs)!

WHY I LOVE IT

HIIT is a favorite of mine bc it just works really well for me! It pushes me past my comfort zone since it’s basically quick challenges, and I’m constantly trying to beat my last session! When I start a HIIT workout, I promise myself to give it my all (and I’m done in less than 15 minutes so it’s a promise I can keep!).

I love doing HIIT with friends too! It motivates me to finish strong and give it my all. I’ve done these workouts with friends lately and we're OBSESSED with the adrenaline rush.

It’s also wonderful because you can essentially make it what YOU want and continuously switch things up! It’s very flexible. I change up the routines by editing the interval on & rest times (30 second ON : 30 second REST  vs. 40 second ON : 20 second REST etc), or hike up the resistance (like using ankle weights...OUCH but in the best way!)

Ready for a couple HIIT workouts to try?! Here are a few variations I rotate and do 2-3x a week. I bet you’ll be seeing & feeling improvements QUICK!

PREP

1. Download a timer for HIIT (I love this app!)
2. Stretch & warm up (5 min stretch + 10 min power walk)

15-minute treadmill blaster
One way to do HIIT is to jump on a treadmill and spend 30 seconds sprinting and then 30 seconding resting. Repeat this 15 times for a simple but effective HIIT routine! You should be going at 90% maximum intensity, so make your sprints FAST! I go at 10.3. 

You can advance this HIIT by adding an incline!

If you don’t have a treadmill or belong to a gym, just take it outdoors! Use steps and run up them for 30 seconds, then rest. Or run back and forth on your block or at a park! These outdoor HIIT sessions are especially fun with a friend.

Full body #250RepHIIT series:

Below are a 3 circuit based HIIT workouts you can try! Best part is that they target your full body (arms, abs, and legs) and you don't need any equipment to do it. You can click the exercises link if you have any questions on how to do it.

HOW: Pick one circuit and go through the given reps for each exercise. Rest for 30 seconds and repeat the circuit 5 times total. DONE! :D

CIRCUIT A)
10 Box Jumps
10 Burpees
10 Reverse Crunch
10 Mountain Climbers
10 Push Ups

*Repeat 5 rounds then rest for 30 seconds

CIRCUIT B:
10 Push Up Rotations
10 Crunches
10 Chair Step Ups
10 Squats
10 Ski jumps (lateral side-to-side)

*Repeat 5 rounds then rest for 30 seconds

REEBOK

CIRCUIT C:
10 Double Jump squats
10 Push Ups
20 Plank Knee Crosses (knee to opposite elbow)
20 Standing Straight leg Raises
10 Toe Taps
