HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED
It's been a year and half since I started being mindful of what I put into my body and exercising 5-6 times a week and it's DRAMATICALLY changed my life.
It fueled me to see my body and mind's potential- motivating me to start a business, push through the unknown, and take care of myself NO MATTER WHAT. After all, you can't take care of others until you have taken care of yourself...am I right or am I right ; P
Today I'm going to share some TIPS that have motivated me to stay on track for 68 weeks and counting!
Change it up! It's easy to feel discouraged when something isn't working. Maybe you bring your gym bag to work but you're too tired after an 8 hour workday... or you're getting bored of your apartment gym. When you start feeling unmotivated, think of all your options and see what you can change! Try a morning work out, go to a park or take a class instead. Keep experimenting until you find a workout routine that works for you.
I've been waking up at 6 am for the past 3 months to workout in the morning. I love the natural high it gives me to kick start my day. But that doesn't mean 2 weeks or 2 years for now, I'll be doing the same thing.
External Accountability! Whether it's creating a seperate fitness Instagram account or working out with a friend, or personal trainer, having external accountability has helped me stay motivated. Ever since I met Betty at the gym 3 months ago, we've been working out every single morning together. We text each other before bed to hold ourselves accountable to show up in the morning. Find ways to hold yourself accountable especially if you know you have difficulty meeting your own expectations.
Keep a log! I did this for 6 months straight when I first started my fitness journey. I planned my week's workout every Sunday, to mentally prepare myself. If things came up, I would squeeze in the workout on another day- even if that meant 2 workouts in one day. I know that sounds intense, but that motivated me to ONLY skip when I really needed to, not because I was feeling lazy. And if you're a visual person like me, creating a log and crossing out workouts as you finish them can really make you FEEL all sorts of good about yourself : D
Pack Ahead of Time! Since I work out in the mornings, I pack my gym bag every night before bed. I even have a packing list taped to my mirror so I can brainlessly throw things into my duffle.
THINGS TO PACK:
- Pre energizer powder in a water bottle
- Fitness watch
- Hair tie
- Sweat towel
- Sports bra
- Terra wrap
- Change of clothes
This way I never forget anything and I'm ready to leave the house as soon as I wake up and wash my face : ) plus I love lists! hahah
New Workout Clothes! YAAAAS this is the best one, and I'm sure you can relate : P There's nothing more motivating than feeling super sporty in a new get-up. It's always the best excuse to go kill a workout isn't it?! Recently I came across a brand browsing through IG called UNDERLASH and I am so in love.. from the quality, to the fit, to the comfort, to best of all... the DESIGNS. I can safely say this is my favorite brand at the moment and reflects my own personal style. So many cute leggings here. Ahhhh I die.
Music! Make a fresh playlist with high-energy music you LOVE and can't wait to listen to and it will PUMP YOU UP. For me, its all things hip hop and 90's.
Hope you found this helpful to KEEP ON SWEATING BABES!! You can do it! love you x
